The custom of giving and receiving finger rings dates back over approximately 6,000 years. People of all classes wore rings and for many different reasons. It could represent ones family by bearing some particular crest, or identify a social status. Members of the mafia wore rings on their little fingers, while the kings would always put them on the index fingers. One of our fingers is even named the “ring” finger, following the worldwide wedding tradition.
Most of the rules and constraints have practically disappeared over the years, and now hardly any protocol applies (unless you’re a royalty, of course). Having become a way of self-expression more than anything else, finger rings is a vast niche for jewelry designers.
Today we can choose from countless of rings, but let’s take a look at some of the most creative and unusual ones. Which one would land on your finger?
